Rebuild World gets main staff and first key visual after three years

On Saturday, October 3, 2026, Kadokawa revealed the main staff and the first key visual for the TV adaptation of Nahuse's light novel Rebuild World. The anime was announced at Anime Expo in early July 2023, and Dengeki Bunko named the main cast later that month. There had been no new information since then.

The Rebuild World key visual shows rookie hunter Akira and the mysterious Alpha in a ruined world, with the tagline about staking everything to survive. The official series site also opened.

Who is making it

Animation is by Raging Bull. Tsukasa Sakurai, linked to Because I, the True Saint, was Banished, that Country is Done For! and Ryūsatsu no Kyōkotsu, is chief director. Shingo Uchida directs; his episode-direction credits include Attack on Titan (2018 TV), Vinland Saga and After the Rain.

Series composition is by Naoki Tozuka, of both seasons of I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince and of the True Saint anime. Character design is by Hiromi Katō, of Kobato., Goblin Slayer II and both seasons of A Returner's Magic Should Be Special, with other artists.

The known cast remains: Daiki Yamashita as Akira, Yurika Kubo as Alpha and Honoka Inoue as Sheryl. A premiere date has not been announced.

What the series is about

The story is set after an advanced civilization collapsed. Hunters enter ruins for Old World artifacts while ancient security systems and rogue bioweapons remain lethal. Akira, a slum orphan, becomes a hunter to escape poverty and meets Alpha, a woman only he can see, who offers training in exchange for a secret raid.

The light novel began in February 2017 on Shōsetsuka ni Narō and Kakuyomu. Kadokawa started the print edition in 2019, with illustrations by Gin, world art by yish and mechanical design by cell. Comic Natalie reports the series has passed 1.7 million copies. J-Novel Club publishes the novels and manga in English. Kirihito Ayamura's manga began in July 2019; the 16th compiled volume shipped on July 27. The final part of print volume 9 is set for November 17.

In 2020 the series ranked fifth on the tankōbon list of the Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! guidebook.

Why it matters

Three years without an update left the project in a gray zone between announcement and real production. Staff, studio and an official visual are the first concrete sign that the Rebuild World adaptation moved forward. A broadcast window is still missing, and today's material does not confirm a 2027 premiere.
