PSYREN on Crunchyroll now has a locked date and time. The platform confirmed on Friday, October 2, 2026, that the first episode hits the catalog on October 5 at 7:30 a.m. Pacific Time, which is 11:30 a.m. in Brasília. The stream is worldwide, excluding Japan and China.
What happened?
The announcement was published on Crunchyroll’s own news channel. In Japan, the series begins the same day, October 5, at 11:00 p.m. on Tokyo MX and other networks, according to production material released in September. Crunchyroll simulcasts it outside Japan and China.
The story follows Ageha Yoshina, a student who finds a red phone card in a public booth. Days later, his childhood friend Sakurako Amamiya, who had the same card, disappears. When Ageha contacts the group behind the object, a deadly game begins.
Who is making the series?
Studio Satelight produces the anime, directed by Katsumi Ono, known for work such as Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's and Symphogear. Series composition is by Shin Yoshida, character designs are by Akira Okuma, and the score is by Takashi Omama, Tatsuhiko Seki and Shu Kanematsu.
The main cast, announced by the production and compiled by Anime News Network, includes Rikuya Yasuda as Ageha Yoshina, Mayuko Kazama as Sakurako Amamiya, Shunsuke Takeuchi as Hiryu Asaga and Sōma Saitō as Oboro Mochizuki. Yūko Kaida and Nobuyuki Hiyama join as Matsuri Yagumo and Dolkey.
Where does PSYREN come from?
Toshiaki Iwashiro’s original manga ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from December 2007 to November 2010, across 16 volumes. VIZ Media publishes the series in English. On September 28, the staff revealed that the ending theme will be ICARUS by Who-ya Extended.
Anime News Network also reported a preview screening of the second episode at the Global Stage Hollywood Film Festival, set for October 3 at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, with the author in attendance. The first episode is also on the bill as a West Coast premiere.
Why it matters
PSYREN spent years as one of the Jump titles without a TV adaptation. The October premiere puts the series on the fall calendar, the same weekend Black Clover season 2 also arrives on Crunchyroll, with a locked date and time for streaming viewers. Crunchyroll’s notice does not confirm a Portuguese dub on premiere day: what is guaranteed is the subtitled simulcast outside Japan and China.
