Sony Interactive Entertainment announced on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, the October Monthly Games lineup for PlayStation Plus Essential. The three games join subscribers' libraries on October 6 and remain until November 2.
What's on the list
The bundle mixes three very different games. F1 25 arrives on PS5 with the official 2025 championship, Career and My Team 2.0 modes, and F1 World multiplayer, where players race as a squad against AI. Hunt: Showdown 1896, also on PS5, is Crytek's extraction shooter: hunters compete for bosses, bounties and extraction on corrupted maps, solo or with up to two teammates.
Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 is the only title also on PS4. A blocky Earth faces another giant-enemy attack. Players build a four-soldier squad — including characters from EDF spin-offs — and fight voxel versions of classic foes, with four-player online co-op and two-player local split-screen.

The official announcement closes September with a mix of racing sim, PvPvE and EDF's comic formula. Sony also reminded players that September's Monthly Games — Sniper Elite: Resistance, MLB The Show 26, Wobbly Life and Chained Echoes — must be claimed by October 5.
