October PS Plus is available as of Tuesday, October 6. Members can add F1 25 (PS5), Hunt: Showdown 1896 (PS5) and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 (PS5 and PS4). PlayStation Blog says PS Plus keeps the three games claimable until Monday, November 2.
What happened?
Sony Interactive Entertainment detailed the PS Plus selection on September 30 in a post by Adam Michel, senior director of content acquisition. The official note is on the PlayStation Blog. The PS Plus lineup can differ by region; Sony asks players to check the PlayStation Store on release day.
F1 25, from Codemasters/EA, is the official game of the 2025 Formula 1 championship. It includes Career, My Team 2.0 — the player acts as team owner — and F1 World, where a squad races against AI drivers.
Hunt: Showdown 1896, from Crytek, is an extraction shooter set in corrupted backwaters. Players hunt bosses, contest the bounty and must extract alive, solo or with up to two partners. Sony also unlocks a PS Plus Starter Pack for the game, subject to owning the base title when required.
Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 is the voxel spin-off. A square Earth is under attack; the player builds a four-soldier team, including spin-off characters, and fights blocky classic monsters plus new foes. It supports four-player online co-op and two-player local split-screen on PS5 and PS4.
Why it matters
The monthly PS Plus catalog remains the most predictable entry point of the Essential tier. October pairs an annual racing sim, a niche extraction shooter and a low-commitment co-op game. Anyone who missed the console version of Hunt — late 2024, with the 2.0 overhaul the following summer — can try the loop without a separate purchase.
September’s PS Plus window closed on October 5. Members who did not add Sniper Elite: Resistance, MLB The Show 26, Wobbly Life and Chained Echoes can no longer claim them this way. PS Plus also distributes limited Spider-Man: Brand New Day avatars on Sony Pictures Core the same day. Those avatars do not replace the three monthly games.
What changes in practice
PS Plus claims go through the PlayStation Store with an active subscription. Once added, the game stays in the library even if the subscription ends later, under Sony’s usual rules. The Hunt: Showdown 1896 HorrorFest pack starts October 6; the Overwatch 2 Dragur Reinhardt pack arrives October 7. Item promotions require the base game when Sony says so.
