What happened?
The Planet Zoo 2 launch is confirmed for October 13, 2026 at 3 PM BST (11 AM Brasília time). Developed and published by Frontier Developments, the zoo simulator arrives simultaneously for PC (Steam and Epic), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The physical edition for consoles arrives on October 20. The game introduces fully aquatic and flying species for the first time, plus new Wildlife Reserves.
Why is this important?
The original Planet Zoo was a simulation success focused on realistic animals and creative building. The Planet Zoo 2 launch expands this with custom aquariums, aviaries and the ability to release animals into Wildlife Reserves for conservation. This deepens the environmental theme and offers more gameplay depth, attracting sim and wildlife fans.
What changes in practice?
Players will be able to build zoos in global biomes with new themes, manage detailed habitats and observe more realistic behaviors. The Deluxe Edition ($64.99) adds 6 extra species and exclusive signage; the Standard costs $49.99. Pre-purchases include a bonus pack with toucan shop and other items. Steam preload starts October 12. It is the most advanced zoo simulator yet, with a focus on conservation.
