Neoshoco’s manga Phantom Busters will get a TV anime in 2027. The announcement landed Thursday on the official site with a commemorative illustration by the author.
What happened?
Serialized in Shueisha’s Jump Square since August 2023, the series mixes school comedy and the occult in Kamakura. Mogari Shishikuno is an exorcist who eats spirits. With skeptic Eugene Korekishi, ghost-seeing otaku Kaoru Kanzaki and shy Kotaro Tamon, he forms the Phantom Busters club.
Viz Media publishes the English edition. Circulation in Japan has passed 1.4 million copies including digital, and volume 8 arrives October 2, 2026. Studio, director and cast are still unannounced.
Why it matters
The title ranked 2nd in a 2025 Japanese bookseller poll and 4th on a “manga people want animated” list. A 2027 TV slot puts another Jump Square series on the calendar.
In practice
For now there is only the 2027 window and phanbus-anime.jp. No animation trailer or broadcaster yet.
