The Phantom Busters anime is confirmed for 2027. Neoshoco's supernatural school comedy manga from Shueisha's Jump Square will become a TV series, according to the official project site and social accounts, with a commemorative illustration by the creator.
What happened?
The series has run since August 2023. VIZ Media's English edition sets up straight-A skeptic Eugene Korekishi against trainee exorcist Mogari Shishikuno, who eats spirits. They form a school exorcism club in Kamakura with Kotaro Tamon and Kaoru Kanzaki.
The official site confirms a 2027 window but has not named a studio, director, cast, or season. Volume 8 ships in Japan on October 2, 2026. Circulation, including digital, has passed 1.4 million copies.
Official X, Instagram, and TikTok accounts launched as @phanbus_anime. No global streamer has been named.
Why it matters
Phantom Busters mixes club comedy and exorcism without the usual grim tone. It placed in the Next Manga Award print category and in Japanese bookseller and "please animate this" rankings.
