Paradox sells Playrion to Trophy Games for €2.25 million plus earn-out

Paradox Interactive has sold 100% of Playrion SASU, the Paris studio behind Airlines Manager and Airport Simulator: First Class, to Denmark's Trophy Games Development. Closing is expected on September 30, 2026.

Deal numbers

The upfront payment is €2.25 million in cash, on a cash- and debt-free basis, subject to net cash adjustments. There is an earn-out of 9% of net revenue from Playrion's games over the following three years. About 30 staff join Trophy. Playrion generates around €4 million a year.

Trophy called it the largest acquisition in company history and raised 2026 revenue guidance to €22.8–24.1 million. CEO Søren Gleie said Playrion had been on the radar for four years and was one of its biggest competitors.

What changes for each side

Paradox bought Playrion in 2020. CEO Fredrik Wester said the sale aligns operations around strategy and management games for PC and consoles. Trophy wants to use Airport Simulator and its tech as the base for a broader simulation series, as it did after buying Airline Manager in 2021, which became a six-game transport lineup.

Why it matters

It is a clean portfolio split: Paradox doubles down on PC/console; Trophy deepens mobile management and simulation. Sources: Paradox announcement and GamesIndustry.biz.
