Ordinary Oddness announced: Tencent studio open-world RPG for PS5, Xbox Series and PC

COSMICPUP STUDIO, a subsidiary of Tencent Games, has announced Ordinary Oddness, described as a “nothing-stays-oddinary open-world RPG.” The game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store and WeGame). A release date has not been revealed, but pre-registration is already available on the official site.

The setting is Elysian Skies, a city suspended above the clouds where, since the Albinox Judgment, humans and Mythoids (creatures based on urban legends) live side by side and share the same everyday rules. The player takes the role of a Consulting Investigator certified by the Mythoids Investigation Agency (MIA), opens an agency on Breezeway Lane and accepts commissions from humans and Mythoids. Rules break, daily life warps, and the truth is not always comforting.

What the trailer reveals

The roughly 22-minute reveal trailer opens with the Mythoid Day parade, the annual celebration of coexistence between humans and Mythoids. The player takes part in the festivities, receives candy from the creatures and watches a massive procession. The game uses Unreal Engine 5 for environments, characters and cinematic sequences. There are transitions between the reality layer and “Psycheidos” zones built from obsessions, with shifting gravity, real-time district reassembly and seamless switches between 2D and 3D.

Combat is choice-driven: blocks, perfect dodges and character switches in sequence. “Mythoidized” bosses change their mechanics according to each one’s appearance and backstory. The assistant Arabella lives inside a painting. The trailer shows a main-story interlude called “Nightingale · Luminar.”

COSMICPUP STUDIO stresses that the material is still in development and does not represent final quality. Pre-registration is open at ordinaryoddness.com.
