OpenAI used DevDay 2026 to introduce OpenAI Dots, AI agents designed to keep working in the background.
What happened?
Each Dot is powered by GPT-6 Astra, has its own browser and connects to more than 4,000 apps. You reach it in ChatGPT, on a voice call, and in Slack and Microsoft Teams.
The first Dot is included with ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium in eligible markets. Enterprise workspaces can enable a beta when an admin turns it on.
Why it matters
Dots join always-on assistants such as Meta’s Muse. Muse is free for consumers; Dots start on higher-priced plans.
OpenAI also previewed specialist Dots for organizations and integration with Microsoft Agent 365.
What changes in practice
A Dot can investigate a bug mentioned in Slack, revise a launch plan, update analysis, or prepare clips from an interview. You inspect the agent’s computer and set autonomy rules. Sensitive actions stay with the human. OpenAI says Dots can still make mistakes.
