At OpenAI DevDay on September 29 in San Francisco, OpenAI introduced dots: persistent AI agents powered by GPT-6 Astra, each with its own cloud computer and browser. The same event launched GPT-6.1 Sol and Ultrafast.

What a dot is
Each dot runs on an isolated VM. Access via ChatGPT, Slack and Teams. Conversations with a dot do not count toward ChatGPT limits; Codex and ChatGPT Work tasks do. First dot included in Pro and Business Premium.
Controls
User computer stays separate unless connected. Proactive research is read-only. Custom Rules and auto-review apply. Dots still make mistakes.
Specialist dots
Corporate specialist dots get identity and system access. Integration planned with Microsoft Agent 365.
GPT-6.1 Sol and Ultrafast
GPT-6.1 Sol is near-Astra at lower price. Ultrafast claims up to ~8x tokens/s in Codex.
