One UI 9 has left beta and is rolling out as a stable update to the Galaxy S26 lineup. Samsung confirmed the official Android 17 release for the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra after it first shipped on the Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8.
What happened?
The stable rollout started in South Korea on September 16, 2026 and later reached more carriers and markets, including the United States. The package includes the September security patch and the Galaxy AI features already available on the latest foldables.
The beta ran for about five months with seven test builds from May. Samsung describes One UI 9 as a more personal layer with contextual suggestions and tighter privacy controls.
Why it matters
The S26 series is Samsung's volume flagship. Bringing One UI 9 to those phones means automatic video tracking and on-device privacy alerts are no longer foldable-only extras.
Galaxy AI also moves deeper into daily use: editable daily briefs, in-conversation suggestions and translation with a visible history, instead of a standalone assistant.
What changes in practice
- My FanCam tracks a chosen person in a recorded clip and reframes the shot as they move. It needs a Samsung Account and is not guaranteed in every scene.
- Now Brief adds generative, editable cards for health, weather and video.
- Now Nudge surfaces contextual actions such as saving a location or pulling a reservation without leaving a chat.
- Interpreter gains Thread View, faster conversation mode and quicker playback on compatible Galaxy Buds.
- Document Scan and Voice Recorder handle curved pages better and format summaries with headings and tables.
- Warranty and Care puts coverage, diagnostics, estimates and bookings in Settings.
- Security Brief and Privacy Alerts flag malware, sideloaded apps and unused permissions; on-device AI watches background access.
- Scam Detection expands to more countries, including Japan, Canada and India.
Samsung says the update will reach other Galaxy devices in stages. Features vary by country, language, model and app. Official details are in the Samsung Newsroom release.
