Square Enix released Nintendo Switch 2 versions of Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II on Thursday, October 1, 2026. The two HD-2D RPGs from Team Asano and ACQUIRE now run on the new hardware with higher resolution and frame rate than the original Switch editions.
In the West, each game is available digitally and as a game-key card for $59.99. There is also a digital bundle of both titles.
The Switch 2 versions are not compatible with the original Switch, there is no upgrade pack, and save data does not carry over. Nintendo estimates the Octopath Traveler Switch 2 file size at about 3.1 GB. Square Enix said the series has shipped and sold more than 7 million copies worldwide.
