NVIDIA RTX 5090 Production Halted: Company Reportedly Prioritized AI and Professional GPUs

Reports from leakers and an alleged factory notice indicate that NVIDIA RTX 5090 production has been halted, with the GB202 chip reserved exclusively for professional RTX Pro GPUs and AI/data center applications.

What is known?

Information about NVIDIA RTX 5090 production emerged on October 10, 2026, via reliable hardware market leakers such as MEGAsizeGPU and hongxing2020, citing a factory notification. According to the reports, NVIDIA will no longer manufacture RTX 5090 models (including D variants for China). The new GeForce flagship would be an RTX 5080 with 24 GB.

NVIDIA has not officially confirmed. Existing stock can still be sold, but supply was already limited and secondary market prices are high (well above the $1,999 launch price).

Why it matters

Demand for silicon for AI and data centers is a priority for NVIDIA. Redirecting the GB202 (Blackwell’s most powerful die) to the professional segment makes economic sense, but could worsen RTX 5090 scarcity for gamers and creators.

This reinforces the trend that high-end consumer hardware competes with AI products.
