What happened?
NVIDIA announced today, October 13, 2026, the launch of Preset C, a new Performance Mode for DLSS Frame Generation technology. Available in the latest beta of the NVIDIA App, the feature promises to accelerate frame generation processing by up to 35% on cards like the GeForce RTX 5060.
Preset C works on GeForce RTX 40 and RTX 50 series, as well as RTX Spark notebooks. It replaces the second AI model of Frame Generation — responsible for optical flow of elements such as the user interface and ray-traced effects — with a lighter and faster algorithm. According to the company, this reduces processing overhead with only minor trade-offs in image quality.
In official tests with an RTX 5060, the mode raised frames in Multi Frame Generation scenarios from 255 to 348 FPS in 6X mode, for example. The feature is available for testing immediately and will be integrated into RTX Remix on October 23.
Why is this important?
Frame Generation is one of the pillars of modern DLSS, allowing frame rates to be multiplied without relying solely on raw GPU power. With Preset C, NVIDIA offers a clear option to prioritize performance over maximum quality, ideal for those playing on high refresh rate monitors or at demanding resolutions.
Availability on RTX 40 cards is especially relevant as it extends the benefit to a larger user base. At a time when consumer hardware faces pressure from AI demand, software optimizations like this become even more valuable.
What changes in practice?
To activate Preset C:
- Update the NVIDIA App and enable beta features in Settings > About.
- Go to Graphics, choose the game or global settings.
- In Driver Settings, open DLSS Override – Model Presets, select Custom and choose Preset C under Frame Generation.
Players should test in specific titles, as the quality loss is described as minor but varies by game. The company has not yet published detailed benchmarks for all GPUs.
