A new Naruto anime will be revealed at New York Comic Con on October 10

The new Naruto anime will be shown for the first time at the NARUTO: What's Next? panel on the last day of New York Comic Con 2026. The stage is set for Saturday, October 10, at 5 p.m. New York time, on the Empire Stage at the Jacob Javits Convention Center. The date matches Naruto Uzumaki's birthday.

What happened?

The stream of the new Naruto anime airs on the official NARUTO/BORUTO YouTube channel. In Japan that is Sunday, October 11, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. An archived version is planned. A project page is already counting down.

On stage are Junko Takeuchi, Noriaki Sugiyama and Yoshihiko Tominaga of PIERROT FILMS at Studio Pierrot. Besides the new Naruto anime, the panel is expected to update the NARUTO Card Game, scheduled for 2027. Rules, price and scope are not disclosed.

Film or series?

The format of the new Naruto anime is not settled. VIZ Media spoke of a new anime film and a world premiere. The official Japanese site and Japanese press say “completely new anime” and do not split film from TV series. A 2023 anniversary anime was postponed in August 2023 with no new date. There is no official confirmation that October revives that project. Boruto continuation talk is also unsubstantiated.

Why it matters

Naruto, by Masashi Kishimoto, ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1999 to 2014 across 700 chapters, with over 250 million copies in print. The TV series ran from 2002 to March 2017, with eleven films. Content, format and dates should only become clear on the October 11 broadcast in Japan time.
