Sunnyside Games has dated Nocturnal II on PC: the side-scrolling Metroidvania arrives on Steam on November 10, 2026, as reported by Gematsu.
What happened?
Nocturnal II is the sequel to the atmospheric action-adventure Nocturnal. The setting is the city of Ytash, an island that “consumed itself long ago.” Players explore dark depths and towering heights with an ignitable sword, unlocking routes as new abilities arrive.
Steam lists an interconnected map, fast movement and expressive combat, plus hand-drawn art inspired by Persian architecture. Secret endings expand the island’s mysteries. The tone is minimalist: atmosphere and discovery matter more than a long systems checklist.
Why it matters
2D Metroidvanias still attract players who want dense exploration without AAA scope. Nocturnal II aims at the atmospheric niche, with its own visual identity and Brazilian Portuguese already listed for interface and subtitles.
It is single-player, with achievements, Steam Cloud, full controller support and modest minimum specs: Windows 10, Core i5-6600 or Ryzen 3 1200, 8 GB RAM, GTX 1050 or RX 560X and 4 GB of storage, targeting 1080p at 60 FPS.
What changes in practice
Anyone aiming for launch day should wishlist it on Steam. This announcement does not include console dates. The early-2026 demo was taken down in May.
