Moore Threads Q3 2026 revenue: 1,774% jump and first profit for Chinese GPU maker

Moore Threads Q3 2026 revenue surprised the market: the Chinese GPU manufacturer announced on Wednesday (October 28) results that mark a turning point for China's domestic semiconductor sector. In the third quarter, revenue reached 1.552 billion yuan (about $233 million), a 1,773.92% jump year-over-year.

What happened?

The company recorded net profit attributable to shareholders of 49.26 million yuan (approximately $7.4 million), swinging from a loss. For the first nine months, total revenue reached 3.289 billion yuan, up 319.15%. The figures exceed expectations and bring forward the profitability target the company had projected for 2027.

What do we know?

Growth is attributed to strong demand for full-function GPUs, led by the MTT S5000 chip. Moore Threads adopted a three-AI-factory strategy: model training, token production, and agent production. Partnerships are underway, including a 100,000-GPU cluster with JD.com, plus Day-0 support for open models such as DeepSeek, GLM, MiniMax, Kimi, and Qwen.

R&D investment also rose: 570 million yuan in the quarter (+87.9%) and 1.34 billion in the nine months. Since 2022, the company has invested roughly 6.5 billion yuan in research.

Why does it matter?

Amid export restrictions on advanced chips and global shortages of memory and GPUs, Moore Threads' acceleration shows progress in China's AI computing supply chain. Early profitability and sales volume reinforce the view that China's domestic market is absorbing and scaling local alternatives at a rapid pace.
