Monster Hunter Rise passes 20 million copies, Capcom says

Monster Hunter Rise has passed 20 million copies, Capcom said. The confirmation surfaced on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from the series’ official Japanese account, as reported by Gematsu.

What happened?

Capcom shared commemorative art stamped with 20 million copies (2,000万本 in the Japanese lettering). In the company’s platinum-title update with figures through June 30, 2026, Rise was at 19.3 million. The new mark means roughly 700,000 more units in a little over three months.

The announcement did not come with a patch or a new mode. It is a commercial milestone. The game remains on sale for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC, on Steam and the Microsoft Store. The Sunbreak expansion is still part of the package most stores list today.

Why it matters

Rise launched on Switch on March 26, 2021, as a faster hunt built around the Wirebug and Palamutes. It later reached PC and, in 2023, Sony and Microsoft home consoles. Clearing 20 million puts the title in the same tier as Capcom’s biggest releases outside Resident Evil and Street Fighter.

The figure also shows Rise’s base did not stop after the expansion peak. The series is active elsewhere, including Monster Hunter Wilds and the mobile game Outlanders, but this milestone belongs to the 2021 game, not a new launch.

What changes in practice?

For current players, nothing changes in the client: there is no patch, new mode or discount tied to the announcement. The message is longevity. New players can still find the game on several platforms, with Sunbreak servers and quests already established.

  • Milestone: more than 20 million units, according to Capcom.
  • Previous reference: 19.3 million through June 30, 2026.
  • Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC.
