Activision and Infinity Ward confirmed Modern Warfare 4 Collateral, a tactical multiplayer mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 inspired by Counter-Strike and Valorant. The announcement came on the official series blog.
How Modern Warfare 4 Collateral works
Modern Warfare 4 Collateral is a no-respawn, round-based mode. Teams swap between attack and defense across two bomb sites, in the spirit of Search and Destroy. Everyone starts with a pistol and earns in-match cash by getting eliminations and playing the objective.
Between rounds, cash buys armor, perks, equipment, pistols and higher-tier weapons. Dying drops the current loadout, but earned money carries over. Respawns, killstreaks, automatic health regen and custom loadouts are all disabled.
What you can buy
Options include an armor vest, Battle Hardened, Lethal Reach, Fast Hands and Ghost; flash, molotov, frag, stim, smoke wall and riot shield; silenced pistol, revolver and akimbo; plus rifles, SMGs, shotgun, LMG and sniper at higher tiers. There is also a team UAV as a shared benefit.
Why it matters
Collateral pushes CoD closer to high-stakes, one-life tactical play. MW4 is scheduled to launch on October 23, 2026.
