The official Minecraft Hotel was confirmed by Mojang Studios and Merlin Entertainments at Minecraft Live in September 2026. The first themed hotel in the franchise will sit inside Minecraft World at Chessington World of Adventures Resort, about 35 minutes by train from central London, with a 2027 opening — packaged with the Escape the Nether roller coaster.
What happened?
The Minecraft Hotel is expected to span four floors and about 69 rooms: 20 premium and 49 standard. British reports describe mine-tunnel corridors, themed lifts and rooms nodding to biomes, mobs and items. Plans also include the Deep Sea Diner and a Woodland Mansion-inspired bar.
Escape the Nether is billed as the first official Minecraft roller coaster. The layout starts indoors through dark mines and exits a Nether portal into an Overworld outdoor area. Construction photos already show track in place.
Why the Minecraft Hotel matters
The Minecraft Hotel and park project, estimated at about £50 million, tries to turn the blocky look into a physical destination. Merlin and Mojang say they have worked together so rides, shops and dining feel authentic.
The Minecraft Hotel and coaster expand Minecraft World, previously announced for the same resort. Booking dates and prices for the Minecraft Hotel have not been published. Sources: The Independent, MyLondon and Minecraft Live coverage.
What to expect
Anyone planning a 2027 London trip should watch Chessington and Mojang updates. Without a pre-sale date, the Minecraft Hotel is still a concept announcement with room counts, not a bookable package. Escape the Nether should be the land’s postcard; the hotel is how fans stay overnight.
