What happened?
Atlus and SEGA confirmed the release of Metaphor: ReFantazio for Nintendo Switch 2 on November 12, 2026. The award-winning RPG from the creators of Persona 3, 4, and 5 arrives at a reduced price compared to other platforms.
Announced during the September Nintendo Direct, the game includes pre-order trailers and Switch 2 play mode support. In Japan, the standard edition is priced at 3,990 yen.
Why does this matter?
Metaphor: ReFantazio was one of 2024's major successes, with a 94 Metascore, The Game Awards wins (Best RPG, Best Narrative, and Best Art Direction), and millions of copies sold. Its arrival on Switch 2 expands access to one of the most acclaimed fantasy RPGs of recent years, especially for fans of Nintendo's hybrid format.
With combat that blends turn-based and real-time action, the Archetype system, and a vast world, the game fits well with the Switch 2 audience.
What changes in practice?
Switch 2 players can pre-order the digital version now. Physical editions use a Game-Key Card, and options include a limited Steelbook and the Atlus 35th Anniversary Edition with bonus content. Estimated file size is around 62 GB.
For Persona and Atlus fans, it is the chance to play the acclaimed title anywhere, with the same base content that succeeded on PS5, Xbox, and PC.
