Magical Girl Raising Project Restart begins airing in Japan this Monday, October 5, 2026, in TV Tokyo's Monday 26:00 slot — in practice, 2:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 6, Japan time. The Oricon listing and the August production announcement, covered by Crunchyroll, also place the premiere on BS Fuji, AT-X, and other networks.
It has been ten years since the 2016 series. Hiroyuki Hashimoto returns as director — he directed the first season at studio Lerche and is also credited as assistant director on Tougen Anki. Series composition is by Takao Yoshioka. Character design is by Masako Ito. The animation house changed: Restart is produced at SynergySP.
The announced cast includes Honoka Inoue as Pechka, Yoshino Nanjo as Pfle, Reina Kondo as Shadow Gale, and Fairouz Ai as Masked Wonder, among others. Nao Toyama returns as Snow White. A new visual, released on September 18, shows 16 magical girls ahead of the premiere. The official account @MGRP_PrjRestart is the primary source for those materials.
What Restart picks up
Asari Endo's light novel, published by Takarajimasha, follows a social game that selects players to become real magical girls — and then sets them against one another. The 2016 season is already on Crunchyroll. Neither the production nor Crunchyroll had confirmed, as of this publication, that Restart joins the same catalog on the Japanese premiere day. Treating the international window as settled would be speculation.
On the fall calendar, the premiere shares Monday with other titles, including PSYREN, which Geekiki covered separately. Restart is not a visual continuation of the old season: it changes studios and arrives with a new cast and visual, a decade after the anime that carried the series outside Japan.
