The Magic Knight Rayearth reboot premieres this Wednesday, October 7, 2026, on TV Asahi in Japan, and Crunchyroll says it will stream the series as episodes air. The production reopens one of CLAMP's most influential manga, first published in 1993, with a new two-cour adaptation planned to run for about half a year.
What happened?
The official site and accounts announced the premiere date in July, alongside a main trailer and a second key visual featuring the mashin Rayearth, Ceres and Windam. In September, a new trailer previewed the opening and ending songs and confirmed the two-cour format. The opening is Otome no Ken by Toaka, and the ending is Seira by Yurina Kawaguchi.
Yui Miura, an assistant director on Jujutsu Kaisen, directs the series at studio E&H Production. Series composition is by Shigeru Murakoshi (Zombie Land Saga), character designs are by Satomi Watanabe, and the score is by Yuki Kajiura, Shiho Terada and Takumi Ozawa.

Why it matters
Magic Knight Rayearth mixed isekai, mecha and magical fantasy long before those genres became a streaming formula. Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki and Fuu Hououji are summoned from a Tokyo Tower field trip to Cephiro, where they must become Magic Knights and save Princess Emeraude. The original anime aired in 1994 and 1995 and remains on Crunchyroll, giving viewers a direct comparison for what the new version changes.
What changes in practice
Viewers on Crunchyroll do not have to wait for a separately announced simuldub window: the distributor said it will stream the show as it airs in Japan. The two-cour length suggests the production intends to cover a long arc, not only an anniversary special. The official notes used here do not confirm a Brazilian Portuguese dub at launch.
