Magia Exedra Sora na Magica launches as Madoka’s first original hard-SF story

Magia Exedra Sora na Magica began distribution on October 4, 2026, at 10 p.m. Japan time, inside the RPG Puella Magi Madoka Magica Magia Exedra. The official subtitle is Our Fates, Our Futures, and Aniplex bills the arc as the first fully original hard science-fiction story in the Madoka universe.

What happened?

Aniplex’s announcement, reported by Famitsu, confirms Magia Exedra Sora na Magica is live on smartphone and PC. The story runs for five chapters, is fully voiced, and is set in 2225, moving the stage from Mitakihara into space. The script is by Kusano Gen (Grassfield), and the original character design is by Kokamumo.

The launch also adds the five-star memory Nagihoshi Sorana. A bingo mission that started at 10 p.m. on October 4 offers up to six copies of that memory and 3,000 Magica Stones. In parallel, the game’s 1.5th anniversary campaign includes up to 150 free summons, according to the same notice.

Why it matters

Magia Exedra, released in 2025 by Aniplex, had so far gathered known arcs from the franchise created by Gen Urobuchi and Studio Shaft. Magia Exedra Sora na Magica changes that model: it is new material, not an adaptation of a film or an earlier side story. Aniplex describes the tone as large-scale hard SF, which pulls the game away from the usual TV-series recap format.

The writer’s profile supports the shift. Kusano Gen is associated with contemporary Japanese science fiction, and the official game account named both him and Kokamumo during Magia Day in late September. The account @madoka_exedra posted the teaser on October 1 with the October 4, 10 p.m. date.

What changes in practice

Players on phone or PC find Magia Exedra Sora na Magica inside the existing client, not in a separate app. Progression still uses the game’s memory system: Sorana arrives as a five-star unit, and the bingo is the announced route to obtain her without relying only on the gacha. Fine mission details sit in the in-game notice, as Aniplex itself points out.

  • Platforms: smartphone and PC, inside Magia Exedra.
  • Format: five chapters, full voice.
  • Setting: 2225, in space.
  • Announced credits: script by Kusano Gen, original design by Kokamumo.

The release does not publish a public schedule for each chapter, nor does it confirm an anime adaptation. What is live is the start of in-game distribution and the Sorana campaign. Sources: Famitsu and the Aniplex press release.
