The Kingdom Hearts Collection launches on October 8, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2. Square Enix gathers the Dark Seeker Saga in Kingdom Hearts Collection [I ~ III], three HD packs that can also be bought separately. A demo of Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind is already on the Switch 2 eShop.
What happened?
The original Kingdom Hearts Collection announcement, logged by Gematsu in June, set the date for October 8. Japan’s weekly release list, published on October 4, confirms the collection among the week’s highlights, alongside Dragon’s Dogma II: Dark Arisen. The pack includes Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind.
Those games already exist on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. On Switch, earlier versions were cloud-based. With the Kingdom Hearts Collection, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX gets a native Switch release, and all three sets also arrive on the Microsoft Store for PC. On Switch 2, Gematsu lists a game-key card format.
Why it matters
Kingdom Hearts is an action RPG that mixes Disney and Pixar worlds with original characters and Final Fantasy figures. The Dark Seeker Saga follows Sora from Destiny Islands to the final clash against the forces of darkness, with Donald and Goofy in the party. The Kingdom Hearts Collection is the most direct way to play that saga on current hardware without cloud streaming.
- 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX: Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Re:Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, Birth by Sleep Final Mix, and HD cinematics from 358/2 Days and Re:Coded.
- 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue: Dream Drop Distance HD, the 0.2 Birth by Sleep episode starring Aqua, and the Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover movie.
- III + Re Mind: the saga’s climax, with Toy Story, Tangled, and Big Hero 6 worlds, plus the Re Mind DLC and extra bosses.
Buying Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind or the Integrum Masterpiece bundle unlocks the platform-exclusive Keyblade Dead of Night. The 1.5 + 2.5 pack also includes texture updates.
What changes in practice
From October 8, players who never ran the saga on current hardware can start with the full Kingdom Hearts Collection or a single volume. On Switch 2, the Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind demo is already on the eShop. This is not a remake: it is the same HD collection on newer hardware, with a native Switch version instead of cloud play.
