The iQOO 16 will be unveiled on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 7 p.m. China time. Vivo is pitching the gaming flagship as the first phone to pair a 2K panel with a 165 Hz refresh rate, built with Samsung Display.
What the iQOO 16 promises
Official briefings with Samsung Display describe a 6.85-inch Samsung M16 OLED (LEAD 2.0). iQOO cites 2,800-nit global peak brightness, up to 10,000 nits local peak, multi-finger touch sampling up to 500 Hz, DC dimming and PWM up to 3,300 Hz.
Gizmochina and Notebookcheck report a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 plus iQOO's Q4 gaming chip. iQOO confirmed a 50 MP 1/1.3-inch main camera; consistent leaks add a 50 MP ultrawide and a 50 MP 3x periscope.
Previews put the battery around 8,400 mAh with 100 W wired and 50 W wireless charging. Software is expected to be OriginOS 7 on Android 17. Colors: Chasing Light, Legend and Track.
Why the iQOO 16 matters
2K at 165 Hz was avoided because of power draw. iQOO says dropping the traditional polarizer cuts panel power by about 30% versus a 1.5K 165 Hz panel. If that holds, the iQOO 16 becomes a mobile-gaming display benchmark.
China sales start right after the event. Global pricing is not yet official.
