Innatera, a Dutch neuromorphic computing company, announced on Wednesday (5) the launch of its Developer Program, bringing together a new portal, the company's SDK and evaluation hardware for Pulsar, its latest neuromorphic processor. The boards are already on sale at DigiKey, initially in the European Union, with expansion to other countries expected by the end of 2026.
What Pulsar is
Pulsar is a neuromorphic microcontroller that processes sensor data directly at the source, using brain-inspired spiking neural networks. The goal is to bring ultra-low-power intelligence to edge devices: human presence detection, keyword spotting, audio scene classification and predictive maintenance across consumer and industrial devices.
Portal and SDK
The portal is the program's hub: it brings together software, documentation, application examples, community discussion and support. The SDK has two components: Talamo, with a Python-based workflow and PyTorch integration for building, training and simulating applications; and Spine, with the embedded toolchain and firmware needed to run applications on Pulsar.
The evaluation hardware combines two boards: IgnisCore, the processing module featuring Pulsar, USB connectivity for programming and debugging, onboard memory and circuitry for monitoring power consumption; and SensForge, which connects to IgnisCore and adds microphones, radar, motion and temperature sensors, Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity and expansion interfaces for prototyping with real sensor data.
The evaluation boards
"Neuromorphic computing will advance through what developers build with it," said Sumeet Kumar, CEO of Innatera, in the announcement. The company, a spin-off of Delft University of Technology founded in 2018, has raised 55 million euros and aims to bring intelligence to a billion sensors by 2030.
Pulsar was launched in May 2025 as Innatera's first commercial neuromorphic microcontroller. In January 2026, the company showed customer devices using the chip at CES, in work with manufacturer Joya, aimed at lifestyle, IoT and smart-home products.
