Monochrome Corporation and Good Smile Company announced on September 25, 2026 the IGNISPHERE, an original fantasy universe, and the first game set in it: the action RPG DAWNGAZER, planned for 2028 on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam.
The project is led by Takafumi Noma, director and character designer of Unicorn Overlord and a Vanillaware veteran on titles such as 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, Dragon's Crown Pro and Odin Sphere Leifthrasir. IGNISPHERE Studio under Monochrome is developing the game; Good Smile is publishing and promoting it.
What was announced
IGNISPHERE is described as an original world of many nations and races. It is also the name of the studio led by Noma. Monochrome marks its 15th anniversary this month and is partnering with Good Smile to expand the IP beyond games, including figures and light novels under Kadokawa's Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint. Novel details have not been disclosed yet.
DAWNGAZER will support Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese. Music is by Yoshimi Kudo, associated with Unicorn Overlord and Elden Ring. A world teaser is on YouTube and the official X account @IgnisphereX.

Why it matters
Noma left Vanillaware to lead a new IP with Good Smile merchandising from day one. It signals that the studio and the figure maker are betting on a transmedia universe starting from an action RPG, not from an existing anime or manga adaptation.
