Honda has unveiled the RN0 at EICMA 2026 in Milan, its first high-end electric mountain bike. The model was developed with German manufacturer ROTWILD and marks the Japanese brand's entry into the premium e-MTB segment.
The highlight is a proprietary carbon monocoque frame combined with a gull-arm swingarm, a solution inspired by motorcycle chassis construction. Honda says the package aims for straight-line rigidity and controlled flex in corners, under the concept “New Terrain, Same Dream”.
The RN0 weighs approximately 24 kg and will be offered in sizes S, M and L. The front suspension is a FOX 36 FLOAT Factory Kashima fork with 160 mm of travel, while the rear uses a FOX FLOAT X Factory Kashima shock with 145 mm of travel, according to specialist coverage.
The wheels are DT Swiss H1900 SPLINE units in a mullet setup: 29 inches at the front and 27.5 inches at the rear. The tires are Schwalbe Albert EVO Trail and the brakes are four-piston Shimano DEORE XT units with 203 mm rotors.
The motor is a new Shimano drive unit weighing just 2.3 kg, with maximum torque of 100 Nm and maximum output of 750 W, powered by a removable 720 Wh battery. The system includes AUTO ASSIST, which adjusts assistance according to terrain and rider effort, AUTO SHIFT, which changes gears to keep an ideal cadence, and Assist Carryover, which maintains power briefly after pedalling stops.
A 2.2-inch colour display on the top tube shows speed, remaining range, assist mode and other data, alongside a USB-C port. Through the Shimano app, riders can customise settings and lock or unlock the bike's electronic systems.
The RN0 name recalls the RN01 downhill bike with which Honda won the overall UCI Mountain Bike Downhill World Cup series in 2005. According to Honda, RN0 combines “Ride Natural” and “Reach New Peaks”. Price, launch date and sales regions have not yet been announced.
