Arrowhead Game Studios introduced a new threat to Helldivers 2 on November 3, 2026: the Noxious Terminid strain. Announced on PlayStation.Blog, it brings faster combat, two-stage poison and underground cave networks to more biomes on the Galactic Map.
The new enemies
The first new enemy is the Noxious Scavenger. It looks like an ordinary Scavenger, but moves much faster and bites in quick succession, with every bite applying poison. The good news is that it is fragile: Arrowhead recommends high-volume weapons such as shotguns, flamethrowers and grenades.
The second is the Noxious Spewer, large and surprisingly fast for its size. At medium range it uses Web Spit, a web attack that stops the player from sprinting and lets it close the distance. Its bite is quick, reaches further than expected and carries a stronger dose of venom than the Scavenger's.
The Spewer's weak point is its abdomen: its head has medium armor, but its web sac has none. The catch is that bursting it triggers a Web Explosion, trapping nearby Helldivers and bugs in webbing.
Dealing with poison and caves
Poison has two stages, tracked by a new HUD icon. Light poisoning hazes vision and drains health over time. Heavy poisoning increases damage over time, keeps vision hazed and removes the ability to sprint. Stims help cure the condition, and Arrowhead suggests keeping one ready for a poisoned squadmate.
Caves are also spreading: Terminid tunnel networks, once limited to a few worlds, can now appear in more biomes, from scorched deserts to frozen tundras. Inside, sightlines are short, corners are blind and fast enemies arrive before they are heard. Arrowhead recommends close-range firepower, staying with the squad and keeping a stim in reserve.
Helldivers 2 is a cooperative third-person shooter for PS5 and PC in which the Galactic War evolves as the community plays. A strain built around poison and webs changes squad preparation: area weapons, attention to the HUD and spare stims matter as much as raw damage.
