Gears of War E-Day hits the download runway: The Coalition and Xbox open pre-install on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 8am Pacific on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Steam.
What happened?
In an Xbox Wire post, the studio said the game has gone gold and locked the calendar. Anyone who bought the title or has it in their library can pull the files now instead of waiting in a launch-day queue.
Premium Edition early access starts October 1 at 8am PT. Worldwide launch is October 6 at the same hour. Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members join on launch day, not during the five-day head start.
Why it matters
Gears of War E-Day is The Coalition's prequel set on Emergence Day, exclusive to Xbox consoles and also on PC via Xbox and Steam. No PlayStation version has been announced. It lands in Game Pass on October 6.
Pre-install is the practical signal that the gold build is in the stores. For PC players, Xbox also posted final specs after the July multiplayer beta.

Pre-order and Game Pass players can fill the SSD today. On Steam and the Xbox app the download appears at 8am PT. Premium unlocks up to five extra days; everyone else waits until October 6. Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Steam, plus cloud and Game Pass as announced.
