The Galaxy SmartTag3 is the first tracker in Samsung's line that also works on iPhone. The company announced it on September 30, 2026: it is smaller, lighter and promises much longer battery life. Sales start in South Korea on October 7; in the United States, Samsung points to early November at $29.99 each.
What happened?
In the Samsung Global Newsroom release, the Galaxy SmartTag3 is about 35% smaller by volume and 33% lighter than the previous generation. The shape is rounded, with an aluminum-decorated button. Official accessories include a silicone case with a keyring and a Loop Case. Announced colors are black and white.
The battery is still a replaceable CR2032. Samsung cites 10% better efficiency and up to 550 days of normal use, or 790 days in power-saving mode. Within about 200 feet, UWB and Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding combine on supported phones for more precise finding.
The platform change is cross-OS support. Through SmartTag2, the line only worked on Galaxy phones. iPhone now joins through the SmartThings Find app, not Apple's Find My. Samsung says iPhone owners can check and share location and use nearby search. Features such as Compass View, ring phone and left-behind alerts remain Galaxy-only, according to specialist coverage of the US announcement.
Why it matters
Bluetooth trackers are an ecosystem fight. AirTag uses Find My; Google tags use Find Hub; Samsung uses the Galaxy Find Network. A home with Android and iPhone usually needed two brands. The Galaxy SmartTag3 reduces that friction, but does not erase it: Samsung has not announced support for non-Galaxy Android phones such as Pixel.
The US price matches SmartTag2, the latest AirTag and Pixel Tag at $29.99, or $99.99 for a four-pack. Samsung says location data stays encrypted. The release does not give a Brazil date.
What changes in practice?
- iPhone owners can set up and locate the Galaxy SmartTag3 in SmartThings Find, with basic location and nearby search.
- Precision compass, phone ring and some proactive alerts stay on Galaxy.
- Pixel and other non-Samsung Android phones are out for this generation.
- South Korea: October 7, 2026. US: early November at $29.99. Other markets: 2027, according to Samsung.
