Future GPX Cyber Formula: Main Trailer for Compilation Film and ASURADA Short Released

The Sunrise anime Future GPX Cyber Formula celebrates 35 years with the main trailer for the compilation film EARLYDAYS RENEWAL: MOVIE EDITION and the new short ASURADA, which will screen together in Japanese theaters starting February 19, 2027.

What happened?

The official team released the main trailer on the site and social media. The compilation film is an HD remastered and re-edited version of the 1996 compilation, supervised by director Mitsuo Fukuda. The ASURADA short is a direct sequel to the SIN OVA (1998-2000), about 6 minutes long, fully hand-animated without CGI, with machine designs by Shoji Kawamori, including the Zenith Asurada AKF-S0/G.

Why is this important?

Cyber Formula is a classic 1990s futuristic racing series with influence on mecha and motorsports. The return after decades, with traditional animation and a canonical sequel, excites longtime fans and introduces the franchise to new generations. The trailer highlights high-speed action and the Cyber Formula world.

What changes in practice?

Fans in Japan will be able to watch the double feature in February 2027. The short continues the story of Hayato Kazami and the Asurada in a new Grand Prix season. Merchandise releases, such as Zenith Asurada models, are already announced. Production by SUNRISE and Bandai Namco Filmworks ensures high quality.
