Forza Horizon 6 PS5 has a date: Playground Games confirmed that the open-world racer set in Japan reaches PlayStation 5 on January 26, 2027, in Standard and Deluxe editions, digitally and on disc. Premium Edition buyers get in five days earlier, on January 21.
What happened?
The Forza Horizon 6 PS5 announcement went up on October 8 on the official Forza site. The PlayStation 5 version was developed by Panic Button, the same team behind the PS5 edition of Forza Horizon 5, in collaboration with Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios. Pre-orders are already open on the PlayStation Store.
The game has been available since May 2026 on Xbox Series and PC, via Steam and the Microsoft Store, and on Game Pass. The PS5 release had been promised for 2026 and was pushed to early 2027.
In the same batch of news, the first paid expansion arrives on every platform on January 21, 2027. It is included with the Premium Edition, the Premium Upgrade and the expansions bundle, and it can also be bought separately. A free update for all players ships alongside the PS5 launch and the expansion; details have not been revealed yet.
Why it matters
Forza Horizon 6 is the first mainline game in the series set in Japan, with more than 550 real-world cars, the Horizon Festival and creation tools such as EventLab and Horizon CoLab. Forza Horizon 5 already showed the series works on Sony hardware. Forza Horizon 6 PS5 grows the player base without splitting the community.
The pre-order trailer was captured on a base PS5 in Quality mode, at 4K and 30 frames per second. A Performance mode at 60 frames per second will also be available.
