Fool Night: SHAFT and SUNRISE anime gets main trailer, theme songs and new key visual; premieres November 26 on Netflix

The Fool Night anime received its main trailer, opening and ending theme songs, and a new official key visual on Wednesday, November 5, 2026. It premieres on November 26, 2026, exclusively on Netflix worldwide.

The production is the first-ever joint project between studios SHAFT and SUNRISE. It is directed by Atsushi Yukawa, in his directorial debut, with series composition by Jin Tanaka, character designs by Robert Sato, and music by Tatsuya Kato.

Cast, staff and theme songs

The opening theme is “Shake! spit out” by Tempalay, and the ending theme is “息” by Nowlu. The announced Japanese cast includes Koki Uchiyama as Toshiro Kamiya, Minako Kotobuki as Yomiko Horai, Aya Endo as Saeko Kanaeno, Junya Enoki as Akira Yatsuka, and Kiyomitsu Mizuchi as Jin Hiragishi. The English dub cast was already revealed with the previous trailer.

Fool Night adapts the seinen manga by Kasumi Yasuda, serialized in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Superior magazine since November 2020, with 13 volumes released so far. The manga is also published in English by VIZ Media.

The story of Fool Night

The story is set in a future where a thick layer of cloud has blocked sunlight for a century and Earth’s oxygen is running out. To survive, humanity relies on “transfloration,” a process that turns people into plants. The protagonist, Toshiro Kamiya, a young man in debt who works to pay bills and his mother’s medical treatment, chooses to transform — and discovers he can hear plants, taking on work that connects people with their transformed loved ones.

With the new trailer and key visual out, the countdown to the November 26 Netflix premiere is officially on.

The announcement joins a strong season of anime news: Spirit Circle also got a TV anime, premiering in December 2026.
