Fitbit Edge: Google confirms the teaser and sets launch for October 12

The Fitbit Edge now has an official date. On Friday, October 9, 2026, the Google Health account posted a close-up of the band on X with the caption “Get an Edge on your health. 10.12.26.” The launch is set for Monday, October 12.

What happened?

The post is short on purpose. The image shows the side of the device, with a metal frame and a glimpse of the display, in the Canyon tone already used on the Pixel Watch 5. There is no spec sheet, price, or country list. Replying to a user who asked whether the Edge pairs automatically with the Fitbit Air, Google Health said it has no further news to share yet.

The name and the date are therefore confirmed. The rest is still leak territory. Dealabs and Android Headlines, cited by The Verge and 9to5Google, describe a 1.34-inch always-on OLED, GPS, accelerometer, barometer, altimeter, gyroscope, optical heart-rate and SpO2 sensors, plus an electrical sensor for ECG. Reports also mention atrial-fibrillation alerts, a replaceable battery of up to seven days, and a US price near $180.

Why it matters

The Edge sits in a lineup Google has been redrawing. The screenless Fitbit Air arrived earlier in 2026 as a light tracker. The Pixel Watch 5 is the other end: a full watch with an entry price well above $350. If the leaks hold, the Edge is the middle: a screened band, cheaper than the watch and more complete than the Air.

For anyone tracking training or health on the wrist, the practical difference is three still-unofficial points: whether the battery really lasts a week, whether ECG and irregular-rhythm alerts ship in the box, and whether iPhone support exists alongside Android. Google confirmed none of that in the teaser.

What changes in practice?

Until Monday, buying remains speculation. What can be stated is the calendar: October 12, 2026, is the date Google Health put on the post. It is not clear whether sales start that day or only the full announcement. Gemini integration and pairing with the Air appear in rumors and user questions, not in a statement.

  • Confirmed: the Fitbit Edge name and the October 12, 2026 date, via Google Health.
  • Not confirmed: 1.34-inch screen, ECG, seven-day battery, and a price near $180.
  • Lineup context: screenless Fitbit Air and the pricier Pixel Watch 5.
