Sapphire RX 7000 firmware arrives with a security fix for eight Radeon cards

Sapphire published new firmware on Friday, October 2, 2026, for a large part of its Radeon RX 7000 lineup. The update, spotted by TechPowerUp and reported by VideoCardz, is on the maker's driver and firmware page and addresses a security issue found with AMD.

The list covers eight GPUs: Radeon RX 7600, RX 7600 XT, RX 7650 GRE, RX 7700 XT, RX 7800 XT, RX 7900 GRE, RX 7900 XT, and RX 7900 XTX. There is a separate updater per family, with an installation guide. RX 9000 and RX 6000 cards are not in this batch.

What Sapphire did not say

The company did not describe the flaw. The note only says the firmware contains a security improvement identified with AMD and recommends keeping GPU firmware updated for performance, stability, and protection. Public sources checked for this article do not include a CVE, an AMD advisory, or any sign of active exploitation.

Because this is a VBIOS flash and not a regular Radeon driver, the updater has to match the model. The wrong package can stop the card from booting. VideoCardz recommends downloading the correct file from Sapphire's support page and following the guide before starting.
