Square Enix released the Vision: Cecil trailer for Final Fantasy Resonance, the HD-2D RPG due October 22, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC (Steam and Microsoft Store).
The clip, highlighted by IGN on September 25, presents Cecil Harvey — former Red Wings captain from Final Fantasy IV — as a playable Vision. Vision crystals hold essences of heroes from other Final Fantasy worlds. Equipped, they fight beside Rain and the party and unlock magic as the bond grows.
What Cecil does in battle
Official notes compiled by Gematsu earlier in the year say Cecil mixes light and dark attacks while also defending and healing. Stagger every enemy in one turn and the party can fire a Resonance with that Vision — a heavy extra hit.
Cecil was already confirmed in July alongside Bartz, Squall and Zidane. The Vision trailer series that started in August with the Warrior of Light has since covered at least one hero from every mainline entry from I through XV.
How Visions enter the game
Vision crystals come from Sanctums of Light on the map. A free demo covering Chapter 1 is live on the same platforms and carries progress into the full game. Lancarse is developing with Square Enix.
Why the Cecil Vision trailer matters
Launch is less than a month away. Showing Cecil in HD-2D and then in a 3D Resonance is the format Square Enix used all month: old-game pixels, new-game kit, cinematic sting. For anyone waiting on a turn-based Final Fantasy with evolved pixel art, the message is that the old legends are build pieces, not cameos.
