FFXIV Edda's Bag: an ARG with a physical bag at the Tokyo Fan Festival

The FFXIV Edda's Bag ARG lands first at the Tokyo Fan Festival. Square Enix and the Japanese collective Daiyon Kyokai announced the experience on October 5, 2026, with an in-person debut on October 31 and November 1.

What happened?

The release, carried by Famitsu, describes Edda's Bag as a real-world intrusion game played as a walking route. Participants receive a physical bag, accept quests on a phone and explore the venue. It mixes Daiyon Kyokai's people's-bag series with a tour of the Fan Festival.

The tone is light horror, at the level of the Tam-Tara Deepcroft (Hard) dungeon and its related quests. The official text warns that the experience may put the participant and their character at risk, and recommends playing after clearing that dungeon. Hints are included for people who dislike puzzles.

Why it matters

FFXIV Fan Festivals usually mean concerts, panels and queues. A paid ARG with a physical object and a spoiler warning for a classic dungeon is an unusual format. Edda is a character tied to the Tam-Tara tragedy; the bag's name points to that arc, not to the next expansion.

The two-day Fan Festival ticket is already sold out. Resale runs until about 23:59 on October 18, 2026, Japan time. The ARG ticket is charged separately.

What changes in practice?

  • Standard ticket: 4,400 yen including tax, one person, one bag.
  • Party ticket: 11,000 yen including tax, one to four people, one bag for the group.
  • Standard-ticket buyers can still walk the experience together.
  • An online version playable from home is in planning, with different content and price. No date yet.

The next expansion mentioned in the Famitsu material, Silver Wanderer, remains slated for 2027 and is not part of this ARG. Sources: Famitsu and the official Daiyon Kyokai note.
