Elta: Defy All Gods gets a free PS5 demo ahead of a February 2, 2027 launch

The free demo for Elta: Defy All Gods is now available on PlayStation 5. The announcement went up on the PlayStation Blog on October 1, 2026, written by Ian Cofino, co-founder and game director at Afterburner Studios, with the full release set for February 2, 2027.

Elta Defy All Gods mixes hand-to-hand brawling, aerial platforming, and non-linear exploration. The studio calls the format a “brawlervania”: three martial-arts stances, each with a skill tree, magic systems, and a movement kit that includes a double jump, dash, wall run, and grapple. Elta, the dragon companion and the deity worshipped by the protagonist, feeds both combat and traversal into previously unreachable areas.

What the demo includes

According to the official post, the demo covers the start of the campaign. Players control Victus, a warrior monk, as he tries to recover the lost dragon-god, fight corrupted enemies in Lerna — a glacial world of ruins and industrial remnants — and feel the weight of hits through DualSense haptics. Pre-orders include the Vanguard Armor cosmetic skin for Victus.

Afterburner describes the team as three co-founders and about a dozen core members on a five-year project. A partnership with Focus Entertainment, the publisher of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, covers design, production, and QA. References cited by the director include Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, God of War, Darksiders, Jak and Daxter, shōnen anime — especially Dragon Ball Z — and Hong Kong martial-arts cinema.

What the PS5 post does not confirm

The PlayStation Blog post confirms the PS5 demo and the February 2, 2027 release date. A secondary report published on October 2 says the demo is also on PC and Xbox Series X|S. That availability outside PS5 does not appear in Sony’s official text and, for now, should be read as reporting rather than a confirmation from the developer in the same announcement.

The demo page on the PlayStation Store is at store.playstation.com/concept/10009613.
