Dynasty Warriors 2 Remastered launches today on Switch 2, PS5, Xbox, and Steam

Dynasty Warriors 2 Remastered arrived on Thursday, October 1, 2026. Koei Tecmo released Shin Sangoku Musou 2 with Moushouden Remastered for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The package joins the 2001 game and the 2002 expansion in an Unreal Engine 5 rebuild.

What happened?

Famitsu, Game Watch, and Koei Tecmo’s official page confirm the Dynasty Warriors 2 Remastered launch. The standard edition costs 7,480 yen. The Digital Deluxe Edition is 11,880 yen and includes retro costumes for 42 characters plus items such as the vacuum book, white tiger fang, and Rokuto treatise, along with 42 equippable or synthesizable weapons, according to IT Home. The physical Treasure Box, with the original soundtrack and an artbook, costs 13,860 yen.

The original locked in the one-officer-against-an-army formula, with Musou attacks, two-player split screen, and officer growth. The Moushouden expansion, known in the West as Xtreme Legends, added Lu Bu, Meng Huo, Yuan Shao, and other officers, a bodyguard editor, new weapons, and four challenge modes. Dynasty Warriors 2 Remastered joins both packages and adds dodge, counter, and new scenarios, according to Game Watch.

Why it matters

The Musou series became its own genre, but the second game is still the point where mass combat, a large roster, and officer growth defined the franchise. Koei Tecmo notes it was the first mainline chapter to pass one million copies. Rebuilding that chapter in 4K on PC, with ultrawide and HDR, puts a 25-year-old classic on current hardware without relying only on emulation.

IT Home logged the China launch at 198 yuan for the standard edition and 328 yuan for deluxe. Dynasty Warriors 2 Remastered includes full Simplified Chinese support, audio included, plus Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean. Koei’s page lists one to two players. On PC there are Steam achievements, trading cards, and cloud saves.
