Nvidia driver 582.78 arrived on Thursday for older GeForce cards based on Maxwell, Pascal and Volta. The package, about 912.74 MB, is available for 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11 and fixes 114 vulnerabilities in the display driver and vGPU software, according to the company’s September bulletin and reports from IT Home and VideoCardz.
What the 582.78 driver fixes
Of the 114 issues, 98 are in the display driver and 16 are in vGPU software. The reported breakdown includes 1 critical vulnerability, 76 high-severity issues and 37 medium-severity issues. The critical flaw cited in specialist coverage is CVE-2026-47574, with a CVSS score of 9.9, tied to the Virtual GPU Manager on Linux — so the most severe case is not a typical Windows gaming PC.
These cards no longer receive Game Ready Drivers, the regular line with optimizations for new games. Nvidia still ships occasional security updates. Version 582.78 is exactly that kind of package: WHQL, focused on fixes, with no promise of performance gains in recent releases.
Which cards are included
On desktop, Maxwell support covers GeForce GTX 745, GTX 750 and GTX 750 Ti, plus the GTX 950 through GTX 980 Ti line. Pascal includes GTX 1050 through GTX 1080 Ti, GT 1030 and GT 1010. TITAN V, TITAN Xp, TITAN X and GeForce GTX TITAN X are also listed. Notebooks include GTX 900M, GTX 10 and MX110 through MX350.
Not every GTX 700 is included. Kepler models, such as some GT 730 cards, are outside this driver. Anyone still using a GTX 1060, 1070 or 1080 should check the exact model on the official page before installing.
Why it matters
Millions of PCs still game on Pascal and Maxwell. An old driver can open a path to local exploitation or vGPU environments even when the card no longer gets game features. The practical advice is to install 582.78 if the card is on the list, without expecting a graphics upgrade.
