Capcom puts Dragon's Dogma 2 Dark Arisen on sale on October 9, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and, for the first time, Nintendo Switch 2. In its June 10 release, the company defines the product as a paid expansion for the 2024 action RPG, with a new story, and says the Switch 2 version combines the base game and the expansion in one package.
What happened?
Director Kento Kinoshita, who directed Dark Arisen on the first Dragon’s Dogma and was lead game designer on Dragon’s Dogma 2, outlined three pillars in a stream covered by VGC: the Forsaken Dominion story in the region of Norgan, twelve dungeon challenges called Lost Rites, and new hair and tattoo options for the Arisen and the main pawn. Dragon's Dogma 2 Dark Arisen does not reopen Bitterblack Isle: the stage is Norgan.
Norgan is described as a frigid landscape. The player follows a mysterious woman pursuing the Fallen Dragon, gathers relics and has them appraised into weapons and armor, some with their own effects and skills. VGC reported a US$29.99 price for the DLC on platforms that already have the game and US$49.99 for the standalone Switch 2 package. Eligible pre-orders include the Norgan Fashion Set, or Northern Attire, delivered to item storage and collected from an innkeeper.
Why it matters
Dragon’s Dogma 2 had no native version on Nintendo hardware. Capcom uses Dragon's Dogma 2 Dark Arisen to open that door and brings back the Dark Arisen name, tied since 2013 to Bitterblack Isle in the original game. The pawn system — companions that act with some autonomy — stays in the package.
In the press release, Capcom cites more than 14 million cumulative units for the series since 2012. The October 9 launch lands in a week already occupied by Gears of War: E-Day and Star Wars: Galactic Racer on the 6th.
What changes in practice
Players who already own Dragon’s Dogma 2 on PS5, Xbox or PC buy Dragon's Dogma 2 Dark Arisen and take their existing Arisen to Norgan. On Switch 2 there is no separate base game: the package is the entry point. A digital pre-order of the bundle, according to publisher materials, can unlock the 2024 game before the 9th; Norgan and the Lost Rites arrive only on October 9.
