Two pallets of Zotac RTX 5090 GPUs disappear at Guarulhos airport, Brazilian distributor Oderço claims

Brazilian technology distributor Oderço, based in Maringá (PR), has publicly reported the disappearance of two pallets of Zotac GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards at São Paulo's Guarulhos International Airport (GRU). The cargo is valued at approximately R$2.5 million at cost, or about US$470,000.

Company president Oderço Matos shared the case in a video on the distributor's social media. According to him, the goods arrived at the terminal and were then never located. Oderço states that in more than 38 years of operation, and with imports since 2008, it had never lost a shipment before.

What happened

The RTX 5090 is Nvidia's flagship card for gaming and AI workloads. In the Brazilian retail market, Zotac models with 32 GB of GDDR7 typically sell for between R$33,000 and R$39,000. The market value of the missing batch would therefore be substantially higher than the declared cost.

The company says it requested clarifications from GRU Airport and the authorities but received no conclusive answers. So far, the airport operator, the Federal Police and the Federal Revenue Service have not publicly commented. Zotac and Nvidia have also not responded.

Why it matters

The case is notable amid ongoing shortages and high prices for high-end GPUs in Brazil, driven by AI demand and the gaming market. Oderço made the incident public to push for an investigation and the recovery of the cargo. The RTX 5090 is especially sought after by both gamers and those running local AI models.
