Modern Warfare 4 DMZ gets a base, level 70 and three mission types in Hajin

The DMZ mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23 with a base the player expands, a progression track from 1 to 70 and three ways into the Hajin map. Activision's Daniel Noel posted the breakdown on October 5 on the PlayStation Blog.

What happened?

DMZ is the series extraction mode: a squad enters a contested zone, completes objectives, gathers gear and must extract to keep what it earned. Activision calls the 2026 version the definitive take and ships it with the campaign and multiplayer.

The hub is the Forward Operating Base. It starts as a foothold and gains more than a dozen stations. Progress unlocks a 3D printer, a Gunsmith, a daily vendor, a hunter leaderboard, a boss board and a dog-tag case. The track runs from level 1 to 70.

Why it matters

The 2022 DMZ was a genre test inside Call of Duty. The 2026 version answers criticism about missing long-term goals. Hajin is the open map. The game launches October 23 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. There is no PS4 or Xbox One version. Digital pre-orders get campaign early access from October 16.

What changes in practice?

  • Story Missions: replayable narrative objectives.
  • Dynamic Operations: a clear objective, cash, XP and a supply drop.
  • Free Roam: no fixed mission.

Activision also lists boss hunts, graded reports and vehicles. Each region has a threat level. Lost operators can be recovered for a cost, GameSpot reported.
