Blizzard confirmed that Diablo 4 is planned to keep receiving seasons even after Diablo 5 launches in spring 2029. Game director Brent Gibson said so in an Icy Veins interview widely reported on Tuesday.
What Gibson said
“We are planning on supporting seasons as long as the community continues to show up for D4. Similar to what we have in D2 and D3. There are still people who play those games, and as long as you’re showing up, we’re going to continue to be making content,” he said.
The pledge is not open-ended. It depends on an active player base. No further paid expansion is planned. Gibson told PC Gamer at BlizzCon 2026 the team is “focused on Diablo 4 seasons and getting to Diablo 5” after closing the Story of Hatred with Lord of Hatred and Mephisto.
What is still coming
The Amazon class is still slated for the first half of 2027. Diablo 5 takes place about 100 years after Diablo 4, which Gibson said leaves room for seasonal story threads. The studio wants to watch fan reaction season by season before locking the path.
In practice
Players who invested in Diablo 4 need not treat 2029 as an official sunset. Diablo 2 Resurrected, which still received a Warlock class, is the cited model. There is also no guarantee of two full live-service operations in parallel: support for the fourth game stays tied to community turnout.
