The anime Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 (Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru.) received a new key visual and the episode 1 trailer on Monday, October 5, 2026. The TV premiere is set for Wednesday, October 7, and Crunchyroll had already confirmed streaming from that date.
What happened?
ABEMA Times published the material late on October 5 in Japan. The visual carries the line "So that will never dies" and puts Noches in the foreground, with the rest of the cast around her. Episode 1 is titled "To meet you once again."
According to the official trailer synopsis, Kimihiko Kizaki, Nagisa Natsunagi, Yui Saikawa and Charlotte Arisaka Anderson are taken by unknown people on the way to Siesta's grave. In captivity they watch a video in which Siesta records the truth about her own death. The detective who should be dead then appears dressed as a maid. That is the hook of the first chapter, not a summary of the whole season.
Why it matters
Season 1 aired in 2021 at studio ENGI, based on Nigoju's light novels. Season 2 spent five years on the calendar. On September 20, Crunchyroll locked the premiere for October 7 and credited the staff: direction by Manabu Kurihara, series composition by Deko Akao, character design by Yosuke Ito and music by 40mP and Yuyu, again at ENGI. The October 5 visual is the last major promo before the premiere, two days later.
The official account has also been posting countdown illustrations by the staff. Volume 14 of the novel is announced for October 23 in Japan, so anime and book land in the same month.
What changes in practice?
- Crunchyroll viewers should get episode 1 from October 7, on the usual simulcast window after the Japanese broadcast.
- The trailer teases a reunion with Siesta but does not confirm whether the appearance is a flashback, a recording or a literal return. That is for the episode.
- As of this article there is no announced Portuguese dub. The initial release is Japanese with subtitles.
