Valve's Deadlock Hits Record Peak of 262,000 Concurrent Players on Steam

Deadlock, Valve's in-development title that mixes MOBA and third-person shooter, reached a new all-time high of 262,145 concurrent players on Steam on October 9, 2026. The figure surpasses the game's previous record and Team Fortress 2's all-time peak (around 253k).

What happened?

The surge followed the major City Never Sleeps update, which brought a map rework, neutral changes, UI improvements and six new heroes (Nurse Harrow, Rat King, Solomon, Deadman Danny, Baba and Violet). Heroes are voted in by players and released gradually. The game remains in closed beta, accessible only by invite, making the number even more impressive.

Why it matters

Holding over 260,000 concurrent players on a title that still has no official release date shows the strong interest around Valve's project. SteamDB and outlets such as Insider Gaming and Tech4Gamers confirmed the peak. Competition with Dota 2 and CS2 inside Valve's own ecosystem is intensifying. Public SteamDB data shows the all-time peak exactly at 262,145.

Deadlock is still listed as “To be announced” on its Steam page. There is no official announcement of a public launch. More details on the counter can be followed at SteamDB.
