Dark Arisen for Dragon’s Dogma 2 launches today with hard mode and Switch 2

Dark Arisen, the expansion for Dragon’s Dogma 2, launches on October 9, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. Capcom confirmed the Dark Arisen date in a June 10 statement, and the package puts the fantasy action expansion on store shelves alongside the series’ debut on Nintendo’s newer console.

What arrived in Dark Arisen

On Switch 2, Dark Arisen ships as a single package: the Dragon’s Dogma 2 base game plus the new content. On PS5, Xbox Series and Steam, players who already own the original buy the expansion separately. Capcom’s release describes the series as an open-world action RPG of swords and magic, and says the Switch 2 launch is part of the company’s multiplatform strategy.

Launch-day reports based on the day’s materials cite update TU4.0 on existing platforms, with hard mode, new Pawn specialties, PSSR enhancement on PS5 Pro and PC frame generation via FSR 3 and DLSS. Hard mode is also said to be on Switch 2. The same reports list three official collectible Pawns — Toy Leon, Real Rudy and Knockoff Ryu — and a social campaign running through October 21.

Price and timing

According to launch coverage, the Switch 2 Dark Arisen package costs 5,990 yen and the standalone expansion costs 2,990 yen. On the timing map Capcom published for Xbox and Steam, the global unlock is 00:00 UTC on October 9, which is 9:00 p.m. on October 8 in Brasília time.

Why Dark Arisen matters

Dark Arisen is the first major expansion for Dragon’s Dogma 2 and, at the same time, the series’ entry point on Switch 2. Players who already finished the original get a new expedition and a hard mode; anyone arriving now on Nintendo’s console finds the base game and the expansion in one product.
